Considering the fact that our skin is the largest organ of the body don’t you think it deserves the best of care this year? I sure do. I believe that if you invest the time and effort to care for it now, you will reap the benefits of it immediately but also in the years to come. Our skin is the first area of the body to show signs of stress such as acne, dryness, excess oil and of course the dreaded aging lines and wrinkles. There are three daily skin care steps for the face that should absolutely be done on the daily and they are: 1. Cleansing, 2. Toning, and 3. Moisturizing. Once you pick the right products for your skin type and get yourself into a routine it should become second nature and just part of your every day grooming. Trust me, you will notice a difference quickly and will be grateful in the years to come.
The three skin care basics – what you should know:
Cleansing
This should be step 1 for anyone’s beauty regime. Start by using a cleanser (not soap) that is targeted for your skin type. Whether it is dry, oily, combination or sensitive skin, some company out there has done their research and found the best formula for you. When cleansing make sure to remember that a little product goes a long way. Use warm water and move the product in a circular motion.
Toning
Toning is a very important but often forgotten step in facial care. I can’t tell you the countless times a facial client has come to me after her facial and asked me what I have used to make her skin feel so nice and tight. The answer is simple, toner. It acts as an astringent, minimizes the look of large pores, helps to tighten and firm skin and is a great preparation for any foundation. This step honestly takes less than a minute and the benefits will soon become obvious.
Moisturizing
Again for this step you should consider your skin type. It should be applied when the skin is still slightly damp. Moisturizers provide a barrier on the surface of the skin and make the skin more pliable which is helpful aginst the effects of aging. We now know that it is possible for creams to deliver active ingredients through our pores and into the deepest layers of the skin so just imagine the benefits the right product can provide.
